Positive Insight Psychology


Tamara is the Director of Positive Insight Psychology. She is a Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years experience working with children, adolescents, parents, adults and families.

She is a warm and compassionate practitioner who understands therapy is not ‘done to a person’. Instead, it is a collaborative process involving a practitioner working with a client empowering them to change their thinking or behaviours, subsequently making a positive impact on their life.  Hence her company ‘ Positive Insight Psychology’.

Tamara has extensive experience gained in private practice, government and private schools, public mental health and community agencies. She works with a diverse population of clients who present with clinical presentations and/or mental health issues. She is a personable and understanding practitioner who works on a client’s individual goals enabling positive change in their lives to enhance their wellbeing.

Tamara is a skilled clinically endorsed psychologist who is comfortable working with adults , adolescents and children. She also offers parenting advise and support.

She has a keen interest in supporting neurodiversity and has a neuro-affirming approach to assessment and treatment planning ( interventions)

Tamara has masters level qualifications in Clinical Psychology and Education/ Special education. She is well experienced in assessment of children and adults in the areas of Cognitive Functioning ( IQ testing) , Academic Achievement Testing, ADHD assessment, Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessments, Personality Profile Assessments, Adaptive Functioning Assessments, School Readiness Assessments and the provision of personal learning plans for school.

Tamara frequently working in a team care arrangements with clients with a range of significant mental health diagnosis- eg. paediatricians, psychiatrists and GP’s where longterm care arrangements are warranted. She has specialist training and is accredited to support families working with ADHD, ASD , special learning needs and is also accredited to provide support to clients with Eating Disorder Treatment Service Plans

Tamara’s Qualifications

M. Psych (Clinical), M. Ed, B. Ed (Science), PGDipEdStud (Stud Welfare), PGDipPsych, PGCertEdStud (Spec. Ed. Incln & Erly Intvn), Cert IV (T&A), Clin Hypn, MAPS.

Tamara is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and a Fellow of the Clinical College . She is Clinically Endorsed Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Board (AHPRA registration PSY0001128188). She is also Registered as an experienced Teacher with the Victorian Institute of Teaching ( VIT261118) with postgraduate Special Education Qualifications.

Tamara is available for private consultation- incorporating assessment, treatment planning and applied interventions for a broad range of clinical presentations, behavioural concerns, educational and mental health issues. She is recognised with Beyond Blue and has membership with professional associations such as Anxiety Disorders Association & Eating Disorders Victoria . Tamara’s final masters thesis was a longitudinal study of clients with disordered eating and eating disorders. She is also happy to work with self-managed NDIS clients in accordance with their treatment goals and provide recommendations and specialist reports when required.
